Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 May 2026

American Trucks Australia (“ATA”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information we collect

When you contact us through this website, reserve a vehicle, build & price a truck, or request a parts quote, we may collect:

  • Your name, phone number, email address, and state of residence
  • Vehicle of interest, custom-build options, and any notes you provide
  • If you proceed with an order: billing/delivery address, ABN (for business customers), and government identification required for vehicle registration
  • Technical data when you visit the site (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) for security and analytics purposes

We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18.

2. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide the products and services you have requested
  • To process your order, arrange import, conversion, compliance certification, and delivery
  • To keep you updated on the status of your build and provide warranty/service support
  • To meet our legal obligations (vehicle registration, tax, anti-money-laundering, ADR compliance records)
  • To improve our website and services through aggregated, anonymised analytics
  • With your consent, to send you marketing communications about new stock and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Disclosure to third parties

We share your personal information only with parties who help us deliver our services:

  • Our US import partners (for vehicle ordering)
  • Shipping, customs, and freight providers
  • Right-hand-drive conversion engineers and ADR compliance certifiers
  • Finance and insurance partners (only if you ask us to refer you)
  • Government agencies as required by law (registration, tax, AUSTRAC)

We never sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

4. Storage and security

Your information is stored on Australian and Singaporean cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase (Postgres) and Vercel (hosting), with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted to ATA staff who need it to deliver your service.

5. Analytics

We collect anonymous, first-party usage analytics — which pages you visit, how long you spend, your country (derived from IP at our edge servers), and the type of device you use. This data is stored in our own database and is never shared with advertising networks or third-party trackers.

A random session identifier is stored in your browser's local storage so we can tell that two pageviews came from the same visit. This identifier is not tied to your name or email and is not a tracking cookie. To opt out, setata_analytics_opt_out=1 in your browser's local storage, or block JavaScript on this site.

6. Your rights under the Privacy Act

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of any information that is inaccurate or out of date
  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) if you believe we have breached the Privacy Act

7. Data retention

We keep customer records for at least 7 years after a sale to meet warranty, tax, and vehicle-history obligations. Lead enquiries that do not become customers are deleted or anonymised after 24 months unless you ask us to keep them on file.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always available at /privacy and is dated above.
